At first, the brief for Spring was to maximise development potential on the prominent corner site. Focus then shifted towards providing a diverse range of apartments to broaden the appeal and enable the building to cater for a wide range of residents and their needs. This meant that the maximisation on the number of apartments was relinquished in favour of apartments with larger spaces that provided an environment to foster a better quality of life for residents.

Aesthetically, the facade provided a substantial design challenge. The brief was for something which didn’t appear too contemporary, but more conservative in order to feel inherently Malvern. Some tweaking of the design was necessary to strike a balance between something classical yet also timeless. In the end, the classical undertones fuse seamlessly with its contemporary style and becomes instantly recognisable in Spring’s design.
